Summer Bible Study
The Lord has been speaking about foundations, about building up our spiritual foundations. In view of this leading, 12 Tribes Ministries will begin the “Design for Discipleship” Bible Study series this fall, beginning Thursday, September 24th.
Speaking of foundations, that is what we will also explore this summer. Mark your calendars for: 6 Thursdays at 11 a.m. Central Time (CDT), beginning on July 30th. Our time will look like a study group – bring your Bible and your favorite Bible Study software. You need to register to get the meeting link:

You can join us for this study only or continue of when we begin the “Design for Discipleship”.
Again, we will pursue foundations by looking into Hebrews 6:1-2:
1Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity,
not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith in God,
2instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead,
and eternal judgment. 3And this we will do, if God permits.
Google gave me this summary about the passage – I’m sure we can dig deeper:
Foundation/Elementary principles
Christian doctrines that every new disciple of Yeshua (Jesus) must learn before advancing to spiritual maturity. This foundation is broken down into six specific teachings:
- Repentance from Dead Works: Defined as turning away from sin and abandoning attempts to earn salvation through the mere performance of religious rituals (like the Mosaic law), and actively trusting in the Messiah’s finished work.
- Faith Toward God: Placing complete trust in the God of Israel as revealed through His Son, Yeshua.
- Instruction about Washings: Translates in the Messianic context to the Jewish practice of ritual immersion (the mikvah) and the initiation rites of early apostolic discipleship.
- Laying on of Hands: Viewed as the ancient practice of conferring blessing, imparting the Holy Spirit, or ordaining individuals for ministry.
- Resurrection of the Dead: Embraced as the historic Jewish and apostolic hope, distinguishing between the resurrection of the righteous and the general resurrection.
- Eternal Judgment: The basic understanding that human life has eternal weight, and that one’s deeds will result in either eternal reward or punishment.
