How Jesus Heals
What better way to launch this website than to make this first post about the character and nature of Jesus when it comes His active role in “binding up the broken-hearted” – or in more contemporary terms…”to bandage or tie up that which has been crushed, maimed, crippled, wrecked, shattered, or broken into pieces”…
Are you feeling that way lately? Today? Have you felt that way in the past? Listen carefully, this crushing WAS NOT from Him! I love the “Love Comes Softly” series of movies that play on the Hallmark Channel…and this one quote (from the first one), sums up so well the paradox of pain and promise we live in as people who journey in this world:
The truth of God’s love is not that He allows bad things to happen, It’s His promise, that He will be there with us, when they do…
Jesus has promised that He will “never fail nor forsake us” (Deuteronomy 31:6 – 8). He announced His public ministry, which is still in effect today, with these words:
The Spirit of the Lord is on me,because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. Luke 4:18-19
He has been wounded too, and knows what it is like (Isaiah 53:5), therefore he is gentle with us:
A bruised reed He will not break
And a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice. Isaiah 42:3 NASB
Jesus won’t crush or break us when we are bruised, He won’t snuff us out if we are dimly burning…in fact, He invites us to come to Him and leave our burdens with Him:
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30.
Today, let us go to Him, ,to His Presence, and rest in His embrace and learn from His gentle and humble heart, rejecting thoughts of shame and inadequacy that will only lead us to anxiety, isolation, and more pain…
Lord, I do come to You, breathing in Your peace, Your gentle way, Your compassionate understanding. I only want Your Presence to wash over me right now, at this moment, in this place. Amen…

Carolyn, it is so good to see you “over here at my place”! I hadn’t thought about the Serenity Prayer while building this site, but you KNOW I love the last line you wrote “accepting hardships as the “pathway” to peace! Hope your weekend is blessed!

Cindy, I love the description of your mission your About page. It greatly reminded me of this portion of the Serenity Prayer:
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
