• 5 Tests for “Is This God?” – Test 2, Part 2

In the last post about hearing God, I touched on the fact that God’s voice will be consistent with His character…but it is important to know that His voice will be consistent with His true character, not necessarily our perception of His character…. In my case, in my early life into young adulthood, my image of God was that of a rather aloof “big policeman” in the sky. But gradually I formed a different image of Him, formed as I read the His Words to me, the Bible. Being led by the Holy Spirit to put aside all previous perceptions and to read the scriptures with fresh eyes, I…

  • 2012 – A Father’s Day Blessing from Your Heavenly Father

*Book Spine Poetry* Into Abba’s Arms The Father Heart of God Rebuilding the Real You Taking Hold of Tomorrow   Words of wisdom for today from: www.crumbsfromhistable.com If for whatever reason this Father’s Day is marked by more pain than celebration for you, our heavenly Father, the One who counts stars, hairs, fallen sparrows, and tears, knows your grief. ESV).

  • 5 Tests for “Is This God?” – Test 2, Part 1

Test #2: Is it consistent with His Character?   The character of God is encapsulated in the list of fruits of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23 (NASB): But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Along with this idea – and really focusing on the fruit of patience – God is NEVER pushy, never in a hurry, and grants peace along with His will as is indicated in Philippians 4:6-7 (NASB): Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the…

  • Making Lent Linger – Part 3

{Counting the Omer – Day 12}  I grew up knowing that there were 50 days from Easter Sunday till Pentecost. I grew up marking time from the Resurrection to the birth of the church.  In my young heart, it wasn’t nearly important as Christmas or Easter, because children weren’t showered with gifts on Pentecost… And now that I am older – I think perhaps we have it all backwards?  Pentecost is a celebration of the most incredible gift – the one that Jesus couldn’t wait to pour out upon His friends. In the midst of longing somewhat for liturgy, being led into creating a liturgy of my own with the…

  • How is {my ministry} defined?

I still remember the day I read Luke 1:6 with eyes illumined by the instruction of the Holy Spirit: …They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord… One verse. 20 words. The summation of a long life lived for the Lord.  This was the pronouncement of the Holy Spirit; the “well done, good and faithful servants”, spoken of two people who had gone unnoticed for years, but who had nontheless served their God faithfully, in the shelter of secret places – of heart and home, of minds and souls.  I remember thinking to myself, “I would be thrilled…
