  • 15 Ways of Thinking That God Wants to Transform in You

    July 13, 2014 /

On Friday of last week I gave a “healing art prompt” on my Facebook page – did you see it?  It was really a journaling (writing, not art journaling) assignment that I use frequently with clients.  You can find it at my “Paths of Healing” section on the navbar up above.  (Click the link or copy and past this address in your browser search bar:  https://12tribesministries.com/find-the-path-that-will-work-best-for-you/recognize-reflect-and-releasing-emotion-through-journaling%20/). That journaling exercise will help calm and move you through intense emotions…but it doesn’t change your thinking.  It CAN help you identify thoughts, and then ultimate belief structures that drive those thoughts.  Of course the Lord is already working on the needed healing, but…

  • Thoughts on Biblical Meditation from “Voice of the Lord”

    January 21, 2013 /

Voice of the Lord Focus your minds on things above, not on things here on earth (Colossians 3:2). Do you ever sit down to pray and experience a loss of words? Over the years I have found that reciting passages of Scripture almost always gets the gears grinding in my mind and heart. It wakes up the inner man (who is sometimes snoozing) and prepares the way for times of intimate fellowship with the Lord. Speaking and pondering God’s Word prepares the mind for prayer. It takes our attention off of “things here on earth” and focuses our attention on “things above.” God’s abiding Word reminds us of God’s overall…

A rare 'parade' of all 7 planets will move across A rare 'parade' of all 7 planets will move across the night sky this week.

Sky gazers across the U.S. will have a chance to see an extraordinary celestial event on Friday as all of the planets in our solar system will appear in the evening sky.

This phenomenon known as a "planet parade," will feature Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune all visible at the same time along a line or arc in the sky, NASA says. Though "planet parade" is not an official astronomical term, it typically refers to when four or more planets are seen together in the sky.

To catch a glimpse of the seven visible planets, astronomers recommend starting to look for them about half an hour after sunset. After that, Dyches says there will be a short window to see four planets – Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter – as darkness falls. Mercury, Venus and Saturn will be located to the west, while Jupiter and Mars will be high overhead alongside Uranus and Neptune.

Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter will be visible to the naked eye but Uranus and Neptune will require a telescope to be seen after it gets dark.

A little more about counting the omer on my blog, here: https://12tribesministries.com/counting-the-omer/
‘Counting the Omer’ is an ancient daily practi ‘Counting the Omer’ is an ancient daily practice, commanded in Leviticus 21:15-16, which marks the time between Pesach (Passover) and Shavuot(Pentecost). An omer is a unit of measure for grain. In the same way that we may measure flour in cups, quarts or grams for our cooking recipes, the ancient Israelites would use omers or ephahs. An omer of grain is offered on the Feast of First Fruits, which we know as Easter or Resurrection Sunday. First Fruits marks the early grain harvest, and is symbolic of Jesus’ resurrection as a type of first fruits of the coming resurrection of all believers. So, ‘Counting the Omer’ connects the observances of Passover, First Fruits, and Pentecost. The Protestant Church knows these days more familiarly as the 50 days to Pentecost. Every evening from the second night of Passover to the day before Shavuot (Pentecost), another day is counted, marking the 49 days (seven weeks) between these two holidays.

Remember, when God led Israel out of Egypt, the congregation really didn’t know Him. The journey from the Red Sea to Sinai was an opportunity for the Israelites to come to know Him and to understand His goodness, and indeed, during those 50 days He showed Himself to be Jehovah-Jireh (provider), Jehovah-Rapha (healer), Jehovah-Rohi (shepherd), and Jehovah Nissi (banner of victory). For us, we can use these days to get to know God and His Ways more deeply, growing in love and trust.
